02 CLIENT GUIDE

AI FOR BUSINESS WEBSITES AND MOBILE APPS

AI can make some experiences more useful, but it is not the starting requirement for every website or mobile app. The first question is what user problem AI will solve, and whether a conventional search, form, FAQ or programmed workflow would solve it more reliably.

Understand the main types of AI feature

A basic assistant can answer from approved company information; a retrieval-based system can search authorized documents; a connected agent can request information from backend tools. An agent with permission to change bookings or accounts introduces much higher reliability and security requirements.

Most projects do not train a new foundational model

A typical business integration configures an existing AI model with system instructions, approved business knowledge, retrieval and controlled backend functions. Fine-tuning may be relevant in specialist cases, but is not the default way to teach an assistant a company FAQ.

Protect business data and credentials

Keep provider API keys on the server, limit the documents and records that may be sent to providers, require authentication before personal-account actions and define privacy notices. Rate limits, abuse controls and human escalation should be part of the design.

Do not let an AI invent transactions

A resort assistant should ask for dates, obtain actual availability and pricing from the booking system and confirm before changing a reservation. The booking backend—not the language model—is the source of truth for availability, payment and confirmation.

Budget for continuing AI usage

Cost depends on provider, input and output usage, document retrieval, third-party calls, monitoring, hosting and support. A one-time build fee does not mean model usage is free indefinitely.

Test correct answers, refusal and escalation

Create example questions the assistant should answer, cannot answer, and must hand to a person. Assess factual accuracy, sources, allowed actions, prompt-injection resistance and the effect of outdated knowledge. No provider promises perfect hallucination prevention.

Questions to prepare before requesting a quote

  • What user problem requires AI instead of a normal interface?
  • What documents and data may the assistant use?
  • Is it informational, or allowed to take actions?
  • Which actions need explicit human confirmation?
  • What personal data may leave your systems?
  • Who updates knowledge and pays model usage?
  • How should it respond when it does not know?

Example: how this affects a real project

A service business might first use a helpful FAQ assistant to explain services and gather a request. An advanced version could look up a user’s existing appointment only after authentication. These are different scopes and should not be sold as the same add-on.

Frequently asked questions

Does my business need to train its own AI model?

Usually not. Existing models can be configured to retrieve approved information and use controlled tools.

Can AI replace my booking database?

No. Inventory and transactions require deterministic backend checks and authorization.

Can the AI be limited to business topics?

It can be instructed and tested to stay within scope, but restrictions are not perfect; fallback and human review matter.
